Has anyone spun thread plied yarn and knit with it?!
I am really curious. I ADORE the look of thread plied yarn in the skein, but I want to know what it looks like knitted up and the fabric?!
Any pictures for reference?!
A BIG THANK YOU!
To everyone who wrote lovely comments on my most recently finished yarn!
Spinning yarn with a spindle is so much more time consuming (scarily so!), but in a way it offers so much more satisfaction when you have finished. I love my wheel but I do find it hard to spin as fine as I have on my smallest 15g spindle.
I can easily, well so far and with this wool, spin thin enough that I can 3 ply it...

Exciting news!
After a brief talk with my mum a while ago, she has said that friends of hers have sheep. She mentioned that I was a spinner and had a wheel, and apparently this lady offered me one of the fleeces when it’s shearing season.
This lady’s sister is also apparently a spinner so everything bodes well. I might get my chance to prep and spin and use wool all from the same source. This is...

So I have a new phone, it came today!
I have ventured away from the iphone, and I am now the proud owner of a Sony Experia S…it will take a while to get used ti after the iphone for 3 years, but hopefully we will have a long and fruitful relationship with each other!
It also has a 12 megapixel camera, so I should be able to take better shots of projects i’m working on! :-D
Some new fibres.
Well, it would appear that this is becoming quite a blog for spinning. I still knit as well, but I have been so busy recently it has been hard to find large chunks of time to work. I would love to do some more work on my Beatnik Aran jumper but I will have to wait for a whole day off to sink my teeth into it again!
Here are a few pictures of 3 new fibres that I might have bought on a whim in the...

Checking in.
I’m still here but very busy.
Finished a cowl in angora in a minty green, it matches the gloves I gave my Aunt for Christmas, so it will likely go to her.
I have just started knitting another Stockholm Scarf but this time out of my handspun.

Spun up.
Yup, have been really inspired with my spinning recently.
I split the red and grey braid I was speaking about the other day lengthwise. I then spun up singles on 2 bobbins. I did one last night and then this evening after work I did the other and plied them.
This is the first time I managed to get my 2-ply looking more round. It still isn’t perfect but it’s a lot better than...

New fibre
Since I have pretty much depleted my fibre stash apart from the WoW stuff I thought I might treat myself to some more. I really wanted some Massam from this seller in a green and grey but it was a little too much money for me altogether.
I really need to get out of my comfort zone when it comes to colours but I think I found 2 good bargains from a UK dyer on etsy.

This is 152g (5.3oz) of...

Wow.
It’s been so long since I updated!
Sorry about that guys, I have taken on a second part time job and teaching, I’m still getting used to having more things to do instead of spinning or knitting.
What’s on the needles right now?
I’m knitting a lightweight cowl in angora that is a minty green. I’m going to make it quite long so that it bunches around my neck well....
