Next stop, plying!

Just finished spinning and plying the silk/cashmere mix from longdrawjames.

Just need to find the first of three skeins and then I will give them a bath together, can’t wait to count yardage and then pick out a project.

In other news, my green Rock Island was in the post today, should hopefully be there on Friday morning for my mum!

I have a picture of the remaining fibre to spin that you have seen pictures of, I’ll post that soon, I think I will ply it the same way as I have done this one, spin the single then ply it, rather than doing it on the fly!

Huge, beautiful skein is finished, haven’t counted the wraps but I know it is a lot!!
Also loving the fact that there are so many others that do exactly the same as me haha!
Let’s not mention it is now 4am UK time! Oops :)
*edit to add* that is my macbook air it is sitting on!

Yeah,

So we all know I can’t just walk away!

200g crammed onto one bobbin! Only the tiniest amount left over which I am astonished by as I just stopped at some random point!

My foot and leg are SO tired now though!

Right…

…apologies for the absence, things have been hectic over here. For some reason tumblr didn’t post my most recent post for over a week!

I have literally just finished spinning up my singles of the Mandacrafts that I featured in the last post, all 200g of it! The falkland it is on is just AMAZING to spin with!

I spun up the whole second half today and I’m desperate to start plying it tonight but I should probably leave it to rest on the bobbin since the first one have been there for quite a while and I want to do a good job on plying!

Hoping to get a good amount of yardage from 200g but we shall see, the falkland tends to poof up huge amounts when it is washed!

Step away from the wheel, enough spinning for one day!

Here is as close as I get to art yarn, even though it is still relatively traditional looking.
This is the batt that I got nunoco that came yesterday and this morning I just had to spin it up. Massive mix of fibres in there!
It was a navajo ply and probably came out at an aran/bulky weight at 88yds and a pleasure to spin.

Oh wow!! I am a lucky girl.
This is from nunoco from etsy and is one of her Batt Droppings. She cards up the leftovers from other batteries and you get a suprise mix of stuff at around 50g each.
Pink is not something I automatically gravitate to but it has a gorgeous mix of fibres and colours in it and I’m really excited to try!
They also really kindly sent me 2 sample bags on little colours in Marrakesh and Stormy Seas.

GAW-JUS!!!
This is from Picperfic who is also found on etsy and a UK based seller. It is 75/25 organically farmed merino/mulberry silk in the colourway Merisil.
It was in the description of the fibre that it was well blended which is what particalarly drew me to this fibre. I have worked with silk blends before but there is always a thick line of silk running through which I find can make it harder to spin. This is very evenly blended and I will definitely be ordering from her again.
Lush!

SEAFOAM SARI!!!
So it’s all spun up and I am leaving it as singles. I am SO happy with this you have no idea! I got 1083 yards from it and I think it is going to become a shawl at some point, i’ll have to start looking on ravelry.
I also now have Disqus on my blog, so click through to the post and leave me a comment! :)

Loop! Update

There are a lack of updates at the moment due to the fact that I have lost internet connection at home currently, and BT are taking their sweet time in trying to fix it. To make matters worse I am also out of data for the next 2 weeks on my phone…mainly due to the idiocy of me trying to watch 2 Knitgirllls episodes back to back…which ate my allowance…lesson learnt!

I caught the Loop! update the other day, and the three bumps arrived yesterday, I am TOTALLY in love with the Sari silk bump, absolutely gorgeous. That was the one that I was least convinced about to be honest and the one that accidentally found its way into my cart!

I have to say I like them all, but the one I am least keen about, suprisingly, in the Tiger’s Eye which looked phenomenal in the picture, but that I wasn’t particularly amazed with when I saw it in real life. I’m going to let it sit for a while because I think it might be because I just feel so hard for the other colours or my Toffee bump hard similar colours…

I’ll get some pictures up for you guys so you can see what I am on about!
